Help for vulnerable people

We help vulnerable people who are at risk of losing their rented home. This may be because they are struggling to pay their rent, they are causing problems for their neighbours or they cannot maintain a healthy lifestyle.

We give people extra help they need to make a success of their rented home. We work with vulnerable people who may be living with mental illness, a physical disability or a drug or alcohol problem.

Whatever the reason, we do not judge or preach. We provide practical support which helps people get on their feet and stay on their feet.

This can include help with:

  • Setting up home
  • Understanding their responsibilities as a tenant
  • Developing life skills
  • Managing their behaviour
  • Signposting to advice and advocate services
  • Help with finances and benefit claims
  • Getting involved with activities and social events
  • Making sure vulnerable people are safe and secure

What we will do

When we receive a request to provide a vulnerable person with support, we will ask for a referral form to be filled in. Once we get this form, we will make an appointment to visit the individual. We will arrange to carry out a full assessment of their needs, we will then decide whether our service is the right one for them.

If we are able to support the person concerned, we will work with them to agree a detailed support plan, which sets out where help is needed and what we hope to achieve together. We may need to talk to other organisations who can provide different kinds of support, if this is needed.
