Helena Extra’s enabling role
Sometimes we will not be able to provide a service directly but we will be able to help vulnerable people find ways of managing the problems they may face.
Often we are in a position to be able to offer a suitable home and will work in partnership with a growing number of providers who can provide specialist care and support. With existing providers we can provide housing, care and/or support solutions for a range of vulnerable people, including:
- Older people
- People with learning disabilities
- Women fleeing domestic violence
- Ex-offenders
- People with physical or sensory impairments
- People with mental health problems
We know that many of our existing and future customers live with a physical disability and we work closely with the local authority to provide aids and adaptations, through Disabled Facilities Grants or through our Investment Programme.
We provide Advice and Support to vulnerable people who are seeking accommodation through the St Helens Council’s choice based lettings scheme, Under One Roof.
We work closely with NHS Halton and St Helens in providing targeted advice on mental wellbeing to people across our neighbourhoods.
We liaise with people from across Helena Partnerships who focus their work on the needs of our most vulnerable customers.
- Welfare Benefits advice
- Advice on energy efficiency
- Arranging activities for older people at our sheltered housing schemes
We are constantly thinking of new ways in which we can give people further support when and where it is needed.
